Influence is the capacity to have an effect on something. The term influence within Whenua BEINGS refers to the degree of autonomy and self-determination people and communities which allows them to act from their own authority. Influence allows people and communities to have control of their life, giving them a sense of hope to overcome situations of powerlessness and lack of empowerment. The ability to make decisions about the direction of one’s life reflects opportunity to freedom. Therefore, influence is about people having control and power over whenua to realise its potential. As a critical resource land is a mechanism to achieving interests in a self-determined way. |
